About OshKosh B’Gosh
While most people are familiar with the adorable children’s sized bib overalls that bear the company name, many may not be familiar with the entire history of Oshkosh B’Gosh. Originally founded to provide adult sized work clothing in 1895, this Wisconsin-based company quickly found its niche in the children’s clothing business starting with those now famous bib overalls. Miles Kimball, another Wisconsin based company, featured those kiddie bibs in their retail catalog in the 1960s and that was all it took. Kid’s clothing accounted for nearly 20 percent of sales by the following decade. By the mid-90s, children’s clothing was the bulk of the business.
Oshkosh B’Gosh sold their label to Carters, another giant name in children’s clothing, in 2005 for a reported $312 million dollars. The label maintains corporate headquarters in Oshkosh, however. The Oshkosh B’Gosh brand still sells in branded stores, Carter’s stores and other locations across the world. In the United States, there are many standalone Oshkosh B’Gosh stores including more than 100 outlet stores where shoppers can find bargains that can be as much as 50 to 75% off of retail prices.
Size Ranges for the Oshkosh B’Gosh Clothes and Other Items
No longer making adult sizes, Oshkosh B’Gosh focuses on items that range from baby (Newborn to 5T) and children (Sizes 4 to 12). Shoes range from pre-walker sizes and styles to older children’s sizes and feature casual and athletic shoes as well as boots.
Something a Little Special
The most popular item that bears the Oshkosh B’Gosh name is of course the denim bib overall in every size, but there are some that are just a little more special than others. Over the years the bibs have been restyled to take advantage of various trends with different finishes and colors for the denim and different cuts for the bibs. Making its fall and winter season appearance once again, the popular fleece lined denim overalls are great not only because they are softer inside than regular denim items, but because they are warm enough to keep baby toasty even during outdoor fun.
Oshkosh B’Gosh Outlet Malls
Many people love buying their favorite Oshkosh B’Gosh items no matter where they find them. Because they are so durable and well made, they are often a favorite hand me down item as well. Even though you know you will be able to pass these things on, most people want to be able to stretch their clothing budget as far as possible especially for the little ones who are growing out of clothes almost as soon as you pull them out of the closet. To help with this, there are Oshkosh B’Gosh outlet stores in malls and as standalone stores all over the US. There are 14 in the state of California, 11 in Texas, 10 in Florida and nine in Pennsylvania. There are six stores each in New Jersey and New York.

What to Buy and What to Look for
No matter which outlet store you buy from, you get the most bang for your buck if you buy out of season clothing. Look for items that are free from defects and estimate sizes for your child in the future. Don’t be afraid to buy some items on the large size because a growth spurt can happen at any time. The exception to this suggestion is with shoes. Always buy your child shoes that are well-fitted and comfortable at the moment. Of course, because the prices are low, you can also buy a few outfits for your child to wear right away. There are many items that are perfect at any time of the year.
