Originally founded to provide adult sized work clothing in 1895, this Wisconsin-based company quickly found its niche in the children’s clothing business starting with those now famous bib overalls. Miles Kimball, another Wisconsin based company, featured those kiddie bibs in their retail catalog in the 1960s and that was all it took. Kid’s clothing accounted for nearly 20 percent of sales by the following decade. By the mid-90s, children’s clothing was the bulk of the business.

Oshkosh B’Gosh sold their label to Carters, another giant name in children’s clothing, in 2005 for a reported $312 million dollars. The label maintains corporate headquarters in Oshkosh, however. The Oshkosh B’Gosh brand still sells in branded stores, Carter’s stores and other locations across the world.
