Whether you are fortunate enough to be a Georgia peach by birth or simply have the fortune to travel to the state for business or pleasure, you will find much to love about the state. Although Atlanta and Savannah seem to get the majority of the press, there is hardly a spot in the state you wouldn’t love. Enjoy plenty of the Old World Southern charm paired with the cultural melting pot of all kinds of people that the state has become.
Of course, one thing people love to do as residents or visitors to the state of Georgia is to go shopping. There is certainly plenty of that. For some people, only the best outlet mall shopping will do. It is the best of both worlds as you get plenty of name brands but some of the best discount deals around.
Making Your Choice
It could depend on where you live or will be traveling to, but if you get a chance, you should explore as many of the eight plus outlet centers available as possible. While each one has its own unique reasons for visiting, here are a few of the popular outlets in the state of Georgia:
-- North Georgia Premium Outlets - Located in Dawsonville, GA, the North Georgia Premium Outlets have over 130 brand name stores and at least six places to grab a bite to eat. So if you are in the Atlanta area and can take a short drive, stop by and shop from some names like Alternative Apparel, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Ed Hardy, J, Crew, Kate Spade New York, and many, many more. Make sure to also grab a bite from somewhere like Buckhead Grill or some classic fast food Italian from Sbarro.
-- Sugarloaf Mills - Also within the vicinity of Atlanta is Sugarloaf Mills located in Lawrenceville, GA. This outlet mall holds over 150 brand names stores and just under 30 different restaurants, making it extremely popular for residents and visitors. Some of what you’ll find includes stores such as Cloud 9, Crocs, Journey’s, Old Navy Outlet, and so much more. Grab a bite from the diner and show theme restaurant, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, ethnic cuisine from Thai Diner & Sushi, or just some fast food at Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits. You can even take advantage of services like the spa and salon or get some new tires at Discount Tire.
-- Preferred Outlets at Darien - Moving away from the Atlanta region is the Preferred Outlets at Darien on 1 Magnolia Bluff Way in Darien, GA. Formerly known as the Georgia Islands Factory Shoppes, this outlet center is slightly smaller in size but still has plenty to offer visitors. Among the 25 shops to enjoy, you can find discounts and outlet deals from names like Bath and Body Works, Nautica, Reebok, Tommy Hilfiger, and even Zales the Diamond Store Outlet, as well as plenty more. You can even get some pampering from the salon located here. At this time, though, keep in mind that there appears to be just one eatery, so you may want to make plans accordingly, such as leaving for lunch or coming to shop after a power lunch elsewhere.
The other outlet malls located in Georgia range in size and location, although the majority are within an hour or less of Atlanta. Some of the other locations include:
- Calhoun Premium Outlets in Calhoun, GA
- Factory Stores at Adel in Adel, GA
- Peach Shops at Byron in Byron, GA
- Tanger Outlets of Commerce in Commerce, GA
- Tanger Outlets of Locust Grove Georgia in Locust Grove, GA
So, whether you are driving through this beautiful state or calling it home, make sure you do some exploring and see what the Georgia outlets have to offer you.
