About Louis Vuitton
One of the most famous and easily recognizable lines in the world, Louis Vuitton has expanded from its beginnings as an upper end luggage maker to a catchall fashion line that encompasses everything from sunglasses to clothing, bags, accessories and more. The company, which was founded in Paris, has moved forward, dominating other countries and creating lines that are both revered and copied. Because there are so many copy cats and counterfeiters, it is important to make sure that you are getting authentic goods as well as knowing exactly where you are shopping. There are also a number of websites that offer knock off or copied LV items.
The Louis Vuitton Back Story
Started in Paris, France in 1854, Louis Vuitton went from its humble but fashion forward beginnings to become one of the world’s leading and largest international fashion houses. Products have moved from just luggage to small, medium and large bags, sunglasses, shoes, jewelry and watches, leather goods and more. It is typically found in high end department stores, stand alone boutiques and online. The good deals are usually found online.
Louis Vuitton designed a trunk with a flat top that would be not only lighter but airtight as well. The new design allowed Vuitton’s trunk to be stackable during journeys and for storage. He would show more lines in 1867 at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. In 1885, the first Louis Vuitton store would be opened in London, England. Vuitton died in 1892, leaving his son, George, behind to run the family business. It was George Vuitton who had the vision of taking the company to international success, bringing it to the attention of others, especially those outside of Europe at the Chicago World Fair in 1893.
Clothing lines were added to the Louis Vuitton brand in 1997. The company hired designer Marc Jaobs to oversee the designs and production of clothing as well as jewelry lines for the company. A charm bracelet, the first ever piece of jewelry sold by the company, was also designed by Jacobs in 2001.
Celebrities and Endorsements
Louis Vuitton has been associated with a number of celebrities, including those who just enjoy the bags and other items as well as those who have been paid to endorse the brand. Others were not paid but mentioned the company in their own projects. Rappers, Kanye West and others have included the company’s name in their lyrics. While most of the ad campaigns have been print ads only, there have been a few that have been live action on television. Some celebrities who have paid to endorse Louis Vuitton:
Legendary rock guitarist, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones
Pop star, actress, fitness maven, Madonna
Dancer, singer, actress, singing judge, clothing designer and model, Jennifer Lopez

Watch Out for Fakes
Because there are so many different places to buy Louis Vuitton items, it might be very difficult to know the difference between the real deal and a fake. Some of those fakes are so well done that many people may not know which is which. To protect yourself, always make sure that you know exactly what you should be seeing- the color choices that were offered in each model line or the sizes. Other things that you should be watching for include bad stitching, the wrong color of lining and missing components.
