Famed fashion designer Donna Karan launched DKNY in 1989 to appeal to a younger, hipper crowd and to make high fashion more affordable to everyone. The line expanded to add DKNY Men in 1993 and has continued to grow and to change to keep up with the times and the demands of an ever changing group of loyal customers. New to the DKNY family is PR Girl, the social media voice of the line and part of the all new, interactive world of fashion and retail.  There are currently more than 70 stores around the world as well as DKNY online which sells most of the women's lines. The men's lines are limited on the website.

It Is All in the Jeans: Moving Way Beyond the Blues

When people think of high fashion, they rarely think of blue jeans, but Donna Karan is one of the rebels who changed that. Of course, blue jeans have been done to death, and there is precious little that you can do to them that is new or cutting edge, so the jeans at DKNY are not just blue nor are they just the traditional denim. In fact there are camo cord styled jeans that marries not two but three super popular concepts into one super hip pair of pants. DKNY Pure

Donna Karan expanded into fragrance with great success. One of her biggest triumphs was with Pure, the fragrance that is not only light and beautiful but eco-conscious as well. It starts with vanilla, but not just any vanilla. To be truly “Pure” the vanilla comes only from Uganda where CARE, an international development organization helps to create and maintain business with nearly 900 vanilla farmers. Each of these farmers then continues to grow sustainable crops of vanilla to sell to help feed their families and to enliven their communities. According to CARE, the majority of these farmers are women.

The fragrance is then packaged in bottles made of 100% recyclable glass capped with aluminum lids. Each perfume is then further packaged in a compostable box that was made in a mill that uses all renewable energy.

The Pure line is more than fragrances and includes clothing that ranges from the perfect little black dress to boldly colored tops and accessories.

From Color to the Best of Black

DKNY separates some of its lines by hue- with the Color Wheel representing every bright and bold shade you can imagine plus some pastels and neutrals. Grey Edit is a line of clothes and accessories that feature every shade of grey from soft, almost pale as smoke grey to the darker, deeper shades. And the Best of Black is, of course, everything raven, onyx and jet black that you could possibly ever need.

• Don't expect to find the exact same things you would find at a DKNY store.
• Always inspect each item before you buy it. If you find a stain or damage, bring it to the clerk's attention and you may get a further discount, however some outlet stores post signs that say that all items are sold as is and will not mark things down no matter what is wrong with them.
• Try on clothes, especially in stores where no returns is the norm.
