About Converse

Converse has been a very popular and trendy shoe company for many decades. Their designs have been seen on everyone from famous Hollywood stars to musicians all over the world. The name brand offers comfort and style that is unlike any other shoe company. Their known logo, a star with a circle around it, has been the staple for many people across the world.

History

Converse was started back in the early 1900s by a man named Marquis Mills Converse who was the former manager of a footwear firm. Converse opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in the early 1900s in Massachusetts. The company was unlike any other in the fact that it provided rubber soled footwear for men, women and children. Ten years later, the company was producing more than 4,000 shoes a day. It was not until a few years after their rise in production that the company had started to make athletic footwear.

The All-Star appeared in 1917, and it was the first basketball shoe as well as a major turning point for the company itself. Chuck Taylor, a popular basketball player in 1921, walked in to Converse with complaints to his feet. Converse gave Taylor a sales job, and he made the famous basketball sneaker, Chuck Taylor Converse All-Star, a name brand.

Skateboarding

Converse had decided to branch itself out through the decades since its humble beginnings. They had teamed up with professional skateboarders and started the Converse Skateboarding Program in 2009. The company has since added more members to the program, which became successful in the few years of its start.

New Additions

Converse has added many different shoes to its repertoire. There have been specially made ones designed for famous musicians as well as video game characters. These shoes have proved very successful, but were only made in limited quantities. Characters such as Super Mario had a shoe made that caused a trend around the world as most people acknowledge the video game icon. Also, bands such as AC/DC, Nirvana, The Grateful Dead and The Ramones have also had their logos branded by Converse.

Anniversary

In 2008, Converse celebrated its 100th Anniversary. Since its beginnings in 1908, the popular shoes have been worn by just about everyone. Popular basketball players such as Dr. J and Larry Bird have endorsed the company by wearing the shoes during game play. Today the famous designs are still worn by trendsetters all over as they offer a retro look and a stylish appeal.

Men’s Clothing and Accessories

The Converse line of clothing has become even more popular in the last couple of years. The line offers clothing such as jeans, tee shirts and button downs as well as a ton of accessories to go with the clothes. Here is a look at some of this particular clothing line:

  • Tee Shirts -- Converse tee shirts are fashionable and comfortable to wear. You can wear these shirts out on the town or while playing basketball with the guys. A few themes that have become really popular are the Drippy License Plate theme, Art tee, Flag tee, Spray Paint Chuck Patch and the Feed Me Beats tee. These tees come in a variety of colors and are made of one hundred percent cotton.
  • Hoodies -- There is nothing more comfortable than the men’s hoodies by Converse. These hoodies come in two different styles: the Burnout series and Snorkel. Both come in a different variety of colors and are made from 80% cotton and 20% polyester. These lines of hoodies are great for any occasion as they offer style.
  • Watches -- Converse has created a line of watches for men that are great to wear while on the court or at work. They come in different colors and styles. Each one is unique in the sense that they range from analog to digital displays.

Women’s Clothing and Accessories

Converse even makes women’s clothing so that both girls and guys can wear the brand in style while making a fashion statement. The clothing that Converse has created for women ranges from tank tops to denim shorts. Here is a further look at that line:

  • Denim Shorts -- Women’s clothing has never looked as good as now because they are able to wear the Converse logo on denim shorts. These shorts are distressed and treated so that they have that worn in look you’re searching for. They are made from 90% cotton and 10% polyester.
  • Plaid Shirts -- The grunge look is coming back as Converse has taken it to whole new heights. They have created plaid shirts for women that look worn, but are comfortable and without holes. They come in different colors and are made from 100% cotton.
  • Messenger Bag -- If you are a student or have to carry loads of paperwork back and forth from your job, you may want to look into the Converse Messenger Bags. These bags are stylish and are functional. They have an adjustable shoulder strap which makes them ready to go.

Outlets

There are many outlets throughout the United States that offer the Converse store. Here is a look at outlets that carry the popular brand:

  • Gilroy Premium Outlets Gilroy, California -- While you are at the outlets you might want to check out the other stores such as Calvin Klein and Brooks Brothers.
  • Orlando Premium Outlets Orlando, Florida -- Orlando may be known for Disney, but their outlets are known for savings. Check out Chico’s and Bose for additional savings.
  • North Georgia Premium Outlets Dawsonville, Georgia -- This southern outlet mall has all that you are looking for. You may want to try the Adidas store or the Bath & Body Works.
