However in 1981, Azria relocated to Los Angeles and started his own line of boutiques called Jess. It was in 1989 though that the BCBGMAXAZRIA line was first conceived. It was 1996 when this collection first hit the runway in New York during Fashion Week, and since then it has only been growing in popularity. All of this was the fashionable pet project of one man, Max Azria, who became founder, designer, chairman and CEO.
